Extractions

Extracted Tooth

Sometimes a tooth cannot be restored and must be removed.

One concern with teeth that need to be extracted is the options for replacement. These extraction sites often need to be grafted with bone to prevent additional bone resorption during healing. Using bone grafting, we can then provide tooth replacement with a dental implant or fixed bridge will be possible and achieve the most optimal esthetic outcome. At Artistic Dental Associates, we work very closely with periodontists and surgeons to design the best treatment option for replacing our patients' missing or ‘soon to be' missing teeth.

For wisdom teeth or 3rd molars, which typically erupt between the ages of 18 and 25, we recommend panoramic radiographs to assess these teeth and to determine whether to leave them in place or extract them. It is fairly common that these teeth erupt at off angles or only partially, which can create dental problems or infections which would then require extraction of these teeth.
